Summer Beach Tips

Monday, July 4th, 2011

When I was 16, it was June and we had just moved to Florida. I was so excited I could picture that golden tan I was going to get. I remember distinctly my father’s words as we headed off to the beach with our towels and radio in search of the perfect tan. “Be careful this Florida sun is stronger than you’re used to, you need to have something on with at least an SPF of 15 at all times, 30 is better but I’ll be realistic, and reapply it often.” We rolled our eyes as we left but took the bottle he held out to us. Guess what; it turns out he was right. The first time I was ever consciously aware of the heat from the Florida sun was years later. Fast forward to ten summers; I was on a plane heading home to Central Florida from New York, sitting in a window seat with my arm resting on the window ‘sill’. I was wondering how much longer to Orlando when the pilot came on telling us to look out the window to see Cape Canaveral, it was also at that moment I noticed that my arm, still on the sill, had gotten considerably warmer. The truth is that much of Florida’s climate is considered sub tropic so the sun is stronger here than the rest of most of America.

Here are some of the best tips to remember when headed to the beach this summer:

First of all follow a doctors advice – Use Sunscreen. They have everything from SPF 2 to SPF 60 but what does SPF mean and what does it do? SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is calculate in minutes – the number of minutes it takes unprotected skin to turn red compared to protected skin. You get 10 minutes for every number meaning an SPF of 2 gives you twenty minutes of protection in the sun before fair skin starts to turn red, if you have darker skin it varies. (more…)

Planning Your Vacation

Monday, April 4th, 2011

I hope that by sharing my personal experience, you can avoid drawing similar lessons the hard way. And it will show that these little details when planning a vacation can make a huge difference in your results. You can make your next vacation relaxing and enjoyable use by following these simple tips for holiday planning.

1. Keep your vacation planning information in one place. Create a folder label (“Hawaii Vacation”) and use it with your airline, hotel, car rental information, as well as maps or AAA guide, tourist information, contact information for people you know who be held in this city, etc. You will find all this information on holidays, vacation and travel

2. Plan ahead for your wardrobe. You might think you have all the things you and think about what you wear for each activity. For example, on the track you want a swimsuit, cover-ups, slip-on shoes or water shoes, hat, sunglasses … perhaps even a mask, snorkel, flippers and a number. If children such as spades and buckets to build sand castles? Do you need to supply your own towel, or you live somewhere that you care? What is sunscreen waterproof? Plus you see the beach, you’ll be better prepared.

3. Use a list of travel. I started a packing list. After you adjust to your needs, keep in the travel file you created. This will help you remember to pack both the basic needs, and some things that you can remember dark, but do not want to take.

4. Let kids make their overnight bags, and make sure your bag is small enough that they make themselves. Help them do what they want in the street or in the air can Walkman and cassettes or CDs, books, playing video games, portable crafts, card games. Talk to the seats in advance, conflict between brothers and sisters who are to be avoided.

5. Pack a carry-on bag, which is small enough to stay with you at all times. Includes supplies, you should have in case you part with your other luggage for a day. If you take regular medication you need, not in checked baggage. If the combination of leisure and business travel and need something for a presentation the next day, take it in your hand to control rather than data.

6. Plan early for best selection and early booking discounts. If you are really adventurous and are not particularly about where you want, you can also make last minute bookings. There is a risk but you can also some great deals this way. Here are some good deals on airline tickets.

7. If you drive, you can plot your trip in advance and make hotel reservations on the road, when you travel during the peak holiday season. MapQuest offers a useful site for mapping your route and estimating travel time under normal driving.

8. If you travel to another country, check out the currency converter for international exchange.

If you master a few useful phrases in a foreign language, visit the Web site Language Monitor. It even includes sound clips so you can pronounce words correctly.

9. If your vacation plans to stay at home instead of travel planning how to spend your vacation around rejuvenate. Perhaps there are local places you’ve always wanted to experience, but have not had time to experiment. Are there people you communicate? Be clear about what you want and who you want with it, then plan to get there. If your vacation with a friend or relative, you can fly to visit, you can see the status of a flight if they arrive on time.

10. This is the most important tip of all: pack the right attitude. Leave the “if” and enjoy the moment. Remember, what most important, and focus on it. If it’s a holiday away and relax, focus on the activities and thoughts that will be released. If your goal is to rebuild the family and memories together, which can be done regardless of circumstances (missing a flight, tickets do not always take an event you wanted, etc..) If your goal is to make eye and in some special events and shows to see, then plan ahead and make reservations to ensure you can do what you do when you want.
